CONFER, Donald Miller "DCon" age 92 passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 in his home. Don was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio on January 11, 1932 to the late Esther and Chester Confer.
The Confer's moved from Yellow Springs, Ohio to the "Confer Hereford Farm" in 1942. Don loved and lived on the farm for 82 years.
He attended Terre Haute School. He married the love of his life, Patricia Newton in 1963. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before Patricia's passing.
In his younger years Don enjoyed going on vacations with his family. They traveled in an RV and he drove every mile. Almost every year they would end up in Surf City, NC which is now a favorite vacation spot to his children and their spouses and grandchildren.
After retiring from farming in 1969 Don went to work at Yost Superior Co. in Springfield, OH. He officially retired at 70 years old. He made many lasting friendships everywhere he went. He was known to be a jokester and his family has heard many stories about his shenanigans.
Dad enjoyed watching his hummingbirds from the view of his front porch while smoking his pipe. Recently Dad put a new weather station on the farm. He became the infamous weather reporter for Terre Haute on Channel 2 news along with the help of Bonnie and Dwayne.
Don is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Dwayne) Holleron and Suzi (Todd) Koons. Grandchildren, Morgan (Cody) Allen, Ashley (Caleb) Meadows, and Breann (Keten Cox) Koons. He was a great-grandfather to Ridley Allen, Cyrus Meadows as well as Baby Roman expected in September of this year.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A celebration of Don's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Kevin Moehn officiating.
