David W. Nash, 68, of Urbana, died at 9:23 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born October 31, 1944 in Springfield, OH, the son of Josephine (Waugh) and Donald Dolby. Dave worked as a Safety Chairman for Local 402 International Harvester for 47 years and was the owner of Photography by Dave Nash. Dave was a registered official for the Ohio High School Athletic Association, working 45 years as a basketball official and 43 years as a football official. He was a member of the Springfield Basketball and Football Associations, working the state basketball tournament finals eight times and the state football finals six times. He worked in the CBC, GWOC, MAC, OHC, CCC and other conferences in both football and basketball. Dave was a collegiate basketball official for over 32 years, working in Division I basketball in the Mid-American Conference for 13 years and the Ohio Athletic Conference and North Coast Conference for 25 years. He was named the Ohio High School official of the year in 2011. He was a 1962 graduate of Urbana High School, and a member of the River of Life Christian Center and Golden Square Lodge No. 23 Free & Accepted Masons. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marcia (Mosley) Nash, whom he married April 5, 1969, daughter, Cicely (Patrick) McNeal of Blacklick, OH, son, David Allen (Marsha) Nash of New Albany, OH, grandchildren, Jordan, Micaylah and Braylen Nash and Kylah and Evan McNeal, sisters, Beverly Williams of Las Vegas, Clarice (Ervin) Hurd of Las Vegas and Ava Cabbell of Urbana, brothers, Allen (Flora) Nash of Mililani, Hawaii, Bill (Angie) Dolby of Urbana and Bryan (Carla) Dolby of London, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Curtis Cabbell. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 in the River of Life Christian Center, 775 Washington Ave., Urbana, with Pastors Dan Leiker and Tony Pena officiating.
