Darleen L. Lestrud

Darleen L. Lestrud, 84, of St. Paris, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
She was born on January 5, 1933 in Portland, OR, a daughter of Herbert and Eunice (Kellington) Holl. Darleen was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church and loved to sew, crochet, knit and write poetry. She was a very intelligent woman and as a lifelong educator she particularly enjoyed teaching in the area of special education.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Lestrud, Jennifer (Dennis) Tyrell, Kristin (Wayne) Sacks, Steven (Julie) Lestrud and Daniel (Michelle) Lestrud; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack (Jacqueline) Holl.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vernon Lestrud.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Scott Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Nettlecreek Cemetery.
