Dale Lee Radford, 73, of Urbana, passed peacefully with his family at his bedside on Thursday, May 9, 2013 in his residence. He was born October 9, 1939 in Urbana, the son of William W. and Clara E. (Kidder) Radford. Dale was a graduate of Urbana High School where he played varsity basketball. He had worked at DARE PAFCO, Wickham Piano Plating, Grimes Aerospace and Howard Bond. Dale, a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam, was a member of the VFW, Moose and Eagles, enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly (Thomas) Thompson of Huntsville, stepdaughters Connie Evans of Kettering and Charma Brown of Urbana, son Christopher L. (Jacqueline) Radford of Columbus, grandchildren, Megan Arbogast, Matthew and Alex Evans, Lindsay Brown, Eli Brown, Tanner Radford, A.J. Grumbling, Kaylee Thompson, Madison Thompson and Devin Thompson, two great-grandchildren, Caleb Arbogast and Gage Pierce, sister, Carolyn Ferguson of Urbana, brothers, William Radford of Miami, FL and Larry (Sandy) Radford of Urbana, and special friend, Claude Moss. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis (Coss) Radford on September 27, 2012, and grandson, Aaron Hart. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 with Pastor Chris Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery.
