Clarence E. Tallman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on January 27, 2025, in West Liberty, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on June 12, 1946, in Urbana, Ohio, Clarence was a cherished member of his community and is remembered fondly by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud retiree of Navistar, Clarence dedicated 30 years of his life to his career, where his unwavering commitment and work ethic were well regarded. His military service in the United States Navy marked him as a man of honor and dedication to his country.
Beyond his professional achievements, Clarence found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought him close to nature and the community he loved. He enjoyed watching wrestling, hummingbirds, and immersing himself in westerns, particularly "Gun Smoke." He often participated in scrapping and junking, relishing the thrill of finding hidden treasures, and he took many an opportunity to relax with fishing, camping or splitting wood—a testament to his rugged spirit and connection with the outdoors. Clarence was also member of Church of God of Prophecy and American Legion.
One cherished memory shared by Charles was the time he spent with his brother, transforming two classic 1929 model A sedans into one beautifully restored vehicle, reflecting not only his mechanical skills but also his deep familial bonds.
Clarence leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce (Brown) Tallman, and their children: Kevin Tallman, Kelly Shaffner, and Marsha (John) Carney. He was also a proud grandfather to Zoë Shaffner, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Charles (Cynthia) Tallman. His legacy will continue through the love and memories shared with his surviving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sarah Tallman, and his brother, Howard Tallman.
The Tallman family invites friends and loved ones to honor Clarence's life during the visitation on January 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Walter & Lewis Funeral. A funeral service will be held the following day, January 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
Clarence E. Tallman’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life well-lived and a legacy of love.
