Charles Roger Matney, 69, devoted family man and friend, of Upper Arlington and formerly of Urbana, passed away on December 2, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Roger was employed for 34 years and retired from ITT in Springfield, OH. He continued to pursue his passions of real-estate investing, music, travel, and Ohio State football. He never met a stranger and was always quick with a smile. Roger loved the outdoors and spending time with friends. He was born in Washington Court House, OH on October 1, 1945 to William and Virginia (Williamson) Matney. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Arlene (Thompson) Matney; son, Scott Matney of Upper Arlington; sister, Lois Ingram of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Matney; and sister, Beverly Gruntz. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 12 p.m. with Pastor Steven V.
