Charles Edward Thornburg, 91, of Urbana, couldn’t hardly wait to meet his Savior and eagerly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 6:45p.m. He was born on November 14, 1929 in North Lewisburg, Ohio, the son of the late Leo Watts and Beulah B. (Barnett) Thornburg.
He married Kathryn Jeanette (Ervin) Thornburg on March 17, 1951 and together they shared almost 70 wonderful years of marriage. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean war from 1951-1953. He worked at the Howard Paper Mill for 42 years. Charles loved to fish, hunt, work in the yard and do wood working.
He leaves behind his beloved wife; his daughter, Cindy Cozad of Urbana; sons, Gary Thornburg of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jeff Thornburg of Speedwell, Tennessee and Steve (Denise) Thornburg of Urbana; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Graeter; brothers, Paul and Lee Thornburg; and daughter, Joy Blevins.
Viewing will be held at Charles’s church, Life Net Christian Fellowship Church in Urbana on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 4-6p.m. with service beginning at 6p.m. Pastor Chris Livingston will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Life Net Christian Fellowship Church, 142 Dellinger Rd. Urbana, OH 43078. Arrangements in care of Walter & Lewis Funeral Home.
