Charles (Chuck) Burton, 80, passed away on November 27, 2021 at home. He was born on December 28, 1940 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Mitchell and Thelma (George) Burton, the oldest of 7. He attended Cable and Triad Schools. He married Bonnie Wheeler on August 30, 1958, they were married for 48 years before she passed away in 2007. He worked for Conley Construction in Marysville, Ohio for several years before he and Bonnie started driving coast to coast as a trucking team. He drove until his retirement in 2009!
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Bonnie, his in-laws, Walter and Alma Wheeler, and brother-in-law, Edward Wheeler. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Kenny) Hilliard, brothers; Curt (Pam) Burton, Larry (Dodie) Burton, Darrell (Linda) Burton, and Jimmy Burton, sisters; Kathy (Doug) Green and Sharon Burton (Steve McCarty), sister-in-law, Carol Wheeler, and several nieces, nephews, and granddogs. He enjoyed going to and participating in antique tractor shows. Even though he drove a truck, he was a farmer at heart. He helped on his daughter and son-in-law’s farm in many ways up until the end. He loved Country and Bluegrass music, watching westerns, and his granddogs.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. The service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery. A meal will be provided at the Urbana Friends Church following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to your favorite animal rescue in Chuck’s honor.
