Charles B. "Charlie" Metherd

Charles B. “Charlie” Metherd, 87, of Urbana, died Friday, February 8, 2013 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus. He was born on September 14, 1925 in Dayton, OH, the son of LeRoy and Marguerite (Blose) Metherd. Charlie graduated from Urbana High School, and attended Wittenberg University, was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WW II and a member of the N.R.A. He was employed by Kelsey-Hayes/Speco for over 30 years as a machinist. Survivors include sons, Charles “Chuck” Metherd of Urbana and Jim (Misty) Metherd of Osceola, IN , daughters, Marilyn Metherd Adams of Shoreline, WA, and Beth Metherd of Urbana, stepson Gary Donavan, grandchildren Elijah (Jillian) Metherd of Georgetown, SC, Sarah Metherd of Urbana, Josh (Jasmine) Adams of Terre Haute, OH, Jesse Adams of Springfield, Samantha Metherd of Osceola, IN, step-grandchildren Deanna and Drew Donavan, great grandchildren Josh Adams, Jr., and Julionne Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Gruber) Metherd and his parents. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield.
