Markley, Calvin (Jess) age 96, of Springfield, OH, passed away January 15, 2018. He was born in Urbana, OH on February 2, 1921 to the late William and Ada Markley. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha Demory Markley.
He is survived by his four loving children, Marvin Markley, Marilyn (Mike) Lawson, Stephen (Vivian) Markley and Dr. Phillip (Jeff) Markley; eight grandchildren; nineteen great -grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his brother Ralph Markley.
He grew up on a farm near Terre Haute, OH, graduated from Westville High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired in 1983 from the US Postal Service in Springfield, OH. In his retirement he loved to travel in his Winnie Wagon, attend reunions with his company from World War II, play golf and spend time with all of his grandchildren. He will greatly missed by friends and family.
A service to honor his life will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery where full military honors will be performed. A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Calvin’s family has requested contributions may be made to FIRST Foundation, 2616 N.
