Betty M. Conroy

Betty M. Conroy, age 87, of Athens, GA, formerly of Urbana, OH and Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Athens, GA. Betty was born in Urbana, OH to Basil and Ruth Sidders on December 30, 1925. She graduated from Salem Township High School in 1942 and in 1948 married Robert (Bob) J. Conroy Jr. She had a long career in retail clothing sales beginning at the Boston Store in Urbana and continuing at the Miss T Shop and The Hatbox in Louisville, KY. She moved to Louisville in 1964 and was a member of St. Matthew’s Methodist Church. In 2012, she moved from Louisville to Athens, GA to be close to her daughter, Connie Conroy Crawley and her son-in-law, Dr. Arthur L. Crawley, who survive. Other survivors include her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sue and Ed Brennan and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her two sisters, Pauline Davis and Martha Webber. Graveside services will be held in Oak Dale Cemetery in Urbana, OH at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating. In place of customary expressions of sympathy, the family has requested that contributions be made to your favorite charity.
