Betty Eileen Scott, 96, of Urbana, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in her residence.
She was born on May 29, 1920 in Columbus, OH, a daughter of Royal and Fay (Hoover) Scott. Betty has been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Urbana since 1941.
She worked at Martha’s Yarn House for over 20 years and taught many people of all ages how to knit, crochet and sew. Betty belonged to several knitting guilds and was proud to have brought 4-H into the urban area with the first Urbana 4-H Club, the Sewing Hop in 1956. She loved planting flowers, knitting and making clothes for her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Joseph Lee (Norene) Scott, Anne Tulleners and Maureen (John) Wasson; grandchildren, Scott, Joe and Andy Tulleners and Doug Shovar; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Willis, Etney Tulleners and Harry G. Tulleners; nephews, Del Lee Scott, Keith Humphreys and William “Bill” Scott; and nieces, Ginger Watson and Toni Gordley; special cousin, Louise “Peggy” Asterino; and numerous cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph R. Scott; son-in-law, Harry W. Tulleners; and brother, Lee Scott (Mary).
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the WALTER & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 231 Washington Ave., Urbana. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
