Beatrice Pauline (Webster) Gleeson, 99 of Urbana, went home with her Lord, Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Beatrice was born on May 27, 1923 in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Claude and Etta Mae (Everett) Webster. She was a member and Sunday school teacher for many years at the Urbana Church of the Nazarene, was retired from Bell Telephone, and worked as a telegram operator during World War II in Savannah, Georgia where she met and married her husband, Richard Gleeson of Lyndhurst, N.J., as he was returning from the service in World War II.
After marriage, the couple relocated to Richard's hometown of Lyndhurst, N.J. where they raised their family of five sons. She, along with her husband, was active in their community supporting children athletic programs in addition to their involvement with their church, Reed Memorial Presbyterian Church. As a church member, she was on the church’s Board of Trustees and taught Sunday school.
Beatrice is survived by her two sons; Larry W. (Vicki) Gleeson and Warren E. (Della) Gleeson, both of Cable, Ohio, daughters-in-law, Patricia Gleeson of St. Augustine, Fla., Diane (Hector) Lizcano of New Haven, Conn., grandchildren; Melissa Gleeson, Kristen Gleeson, Jenna Leon, Matthew (Karen) Gleeson, Shana Gleeson, and Beth Ann (David) Aveni, nephew, Reid Webster, and six great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, sons; Russell James, Douglas Raymond, and Jeffery William Gleeson, daughter-in-law, Carol (Larry) Gleeson, grandson, Ryan James Gleeson, and brother, Jesse Webster.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Walter and Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Dan Leiker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Beatrice’s honor.
