Barbara "Patty" Forrest

Barbara Ann “Patty” Forrest, 81, of Urbana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017. She was born on July 27, 1935, in Champaign County, the daughter of the late Christopher C. and Dora B. (Boosinger) Woods.
On Nov. 1, 1952 she married Gene L. Forrest and together they are survived by 4 children: Daughter, Karen F. (R. Bart) Ward; Sons, Keith A. (Lori) Forrest, Kevin J. (Peggy) Forrest and Kent A. Forrest (& Karen); grandchildren, Adam (Kristin) Ward, Alex Ward, Elliott (Jessica) Ward, Brian (Lynne) Forrest, Kurt (Katie) Forrest, Jessica (Josh) Thomas, Kohl Forrest & (Crystal) and Jake Forrest; great-grandchildren, Sloane Ward, Max and Gus Ward, Landry, Channing and Paxson Ward, Grace, Ella, Clara and Ruby Forrest, Sophie and Hudson Forrest, Owen, Evan and Tucker Thomas and Sawyer and Sloane Forrest; sisters-in-law, Shirley Woods, Betty Woods and Virginia Woods; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gene L. Forrest; and siblings, William Woods, Mary McCulla, Chris Woods, Richard Woods, Ralph Woods, Betty Lou Woods, Alice Curnutte, Judy Woods and Roger Woods.
Patty attended North Lewisburg Schools in Champaign County where she was also active in various civic organizations. She worked for the Nestle Company and retired from the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Patty’s pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years, she expressed her love of family by hosting Sunday dinners. Her fried chicken was unsurpassed. She was admired by all for her strong work ethic.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home in Urbana. A celebration of her life will be on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg.
Her family is so very grateful to Dr. Aijaz Ahmed and his staff and the staff at Mercy McAuley Center for the outstanding care they provided her.
