Athelsteine "Steenie" B. Bowser

Athelsteine “Steenie” B. Bowser, 90, of Urbana, OH went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from her home. She was the second oldest of nine born on March 4, 1928 in Urbana, OH to the late Herbert O. and Viola S. Bowser. She retired from Grimes/Midland Ross after being employed for over 40 years.
Steenie was a lifelong member at Jerusalem Second Baptist Church. She was also a 50-year member of the Ameranth Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation, Star of the East Chapter No. 52 Urbana OES, along with the Retirement Set, Urbana Bunch and Golden Chapter No. 1 Springfield.
When Steenie wasn’t at church, shopping or at one of her many gatherings, she could be found in her own kitchen cooking, baking cookies or making her famous pineapple upside down cake for family and friends.
She leaves her loving memory to one brother, Richard L. Bowser of Urbana; one sister, Reverend Dr. Sherry Austin of Atlanta, GA; one uncle, Bishop Frank Barnes of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Jerusalem Second Baptist Church, 1036 S. High St., Urbana, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 with Rev. Michael Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
