Arlie R. Monroe

Arlie Roy Monroe, age 93 of Nehawka NE died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City, NE following an extended illness. Arlie was born July 24, 1929 in Meigs Township, Ohio to George Washington Monroe Edna Laura (Ewing) Monroe. He was married to Clara I. Cox on May 14, 1947.

Arlie worked for a Paper Mill many years retiring in Quality Control. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, boating, bowling, and golf. Arlie loved to work outdoors, mowing, gardening, and cutting wood. He was an excellent cook and baked either a pie or cake most weeks. Arlie was a past Governor of the Moose Lodge and also a past President of the Eagles Club both in Urbana, OH.

Arlie was preceded in death by his parents and a son Mike. He is survived by his wife Clara Monroe of Nehawka, NE; 2 sons, Gene Monroe of Nehawka, NE and Ray Monroe (Sherry Hutchison) of Lincoln, NE; 7 Grandchildren, Angie, Andy, Alicia (Jamie), Austin (Lois), Travis (Marsha), Tara (Kyle), and Tamara (Brandon); 13 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Walter & Lewis Funeral Home in Urbana, OH. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Oak Dale Cemetery in Urbana following funeral services. Memorials will be provided to Moose Lodge 1215 to support children’s programs. A reception will be held at Moose Lodge 1215, located at 632 Mosgrove St, Urbana, OH from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM following the interment.
