Ann Schneider Dodds

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Ann Schneider Dodds at the age of 82 on August 3, 2024. She was known for her fierce love and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Ann was a true force of nature with a spirit that matched her vibrant personality.

Born on July 8, 1942 in Urbana Ohio to father Hugh Schneider and mother Dorothy Schneider-Ronning. After graduating from Urbana High School, she pursued a degree in education, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from The Lindenwood School for Girls in St. Charles, Missouri. She had a passion for genealogy, making it her life mission to discover any information she could on her family lineage. Ann spent her years generously sharing her superpower - an extraordinary gift for telling stories. Whether educating history, discussing childhood memories or telling tales of her adventures, Ann captured our attention for hours on end. 

She leaves behind a family that will miss her dearly - her daughters Cheryl Dodds-Cohn, Leah Dodds, and preceded in death by her daughter Laura Dodds. She also leaves behind her step-son, David Dodds. Her grandchildren - Hailey and Katelyn Cohn. Her sister, Leah Ward and preceded in death by her sister Lynn Gastineau. Though she has left us, her legacy of love and laughter will continue to brighten our lives.

Ann was famously stubborn, a trait that was always a testament to her passionate and strong-willed nature. Her endearing clumsiness often led to memorable moments and laughs that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. A celebration of Ann’s remarkable life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4-6pm at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Urbana with service beginning at 6pm. Graveside services will be private for her family at Oakdale Cemetery.
