Alice F. Johns

Alice F. Johns, 91, of Urbana, died at 2:25 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield. She was born December 15, 1921 in Urbana, OH, the daughter of Herbert and Goldie (Iman) Armer. Alice was a graduate of Urbana High School who enjoyed bowling and knitting and was a member of a card club. She was a good cook and a wonderful mother. Survivors include two sons, Gary Zerkle and his wife Carol of Urbana and Rick Zerkle of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Heidi Bandy of Urbana, Wendy Laird of Urbana and Penny Zerkle of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; great-grandchildren, Lance and Andrew Laird and Morgan, Madison and Zane Bandy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene Johns and sister, Betty Coffman. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the WALTER & SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Leiker and Pastor Tony Peña officiating.
